We’re Locutus and Rici, a husband-and-wife team from Italy who love making things with our hands. Our website wants to be a resource for crafters around the world.
#LRCrafts combines historical research, tutorials, reference resources, creative projects, practical tools. Our goal is to share.
We share what we have been researching for years, such as vintage sewing machines or the lucet, so people can find a place to dive into deep research: history, real surviving examples, resources on how to use those crafting tools nowadays, cross-referenced data, visual comparisons.
We share what we’ve learned through practice so others can create with confidence. Everyone starts from zero, all of us have been beginners at some point. The continuous sharing of our experience from zero to mastery can help you in any stage of the process. Our website wants to be a comprehensive hub for people like us with many crafting interests, who love experimenting. Here you can search for inspiration for your next project, research historical information on vintage sewing machines, learn the history of the lucet and how it works in modern times, look for embroidery shops while travelling, and more.
When we met thanks to Irish dance, it didn’t take long to realize how much we had in common: our outlook on life, a love for archery and historical reenactment, and – of course – a passion for crafting.
Together, we make all sorts of things: home decor, furniture, clothing, tools, sculptures, dioramas, and more. Some crafts we work on as a team, mastering the same techniques, while others are a specialty of one of us. We like to blend our skills both into multi-material pair projects and individual creations.
There are techniques we master, others we’ve just discovered. We share all of them, in any stage of our progress. Nobody here is ashamed of a crafting failure! All contributes to learning and perfecting.
We believe knowledge becomes more valuable when it’s shared. Every project teaches us something new, and every piece of research opens the door to another question. #LRCrafts is our way of collecting those experiences, to make it easier for other crafters to learn, experiment and discover, as we document our own journey.
