The lucet is a hand tool for making cords or braids for many uses, that's said to come from the Middle Ages. It's useful not just for reenactment, but also for modern projects.

Shoelaces, hair laces, eyeglasses laces, camera or cell phone straps… you name it!

Adding sailor’s knots or Celtic knots make a great impression. Fashion buttons can be lovely closures.

There's a way to start and finish your lucet cord with loops. No crochet, no sewing.

Lucet a long enough braid, coil it in a spiral and sew it in place.

A lucetted lace can be used to keep a window open during windy days. Just make a ring to secure to the window handle.

Add a button on one end and make a ring on the other. You can also use two magnets, one on each end of the lucetted braid.
