The lucet is a hand tool for making cords or braids for many uses. It's said to come from the Middle Ages. The basic technique is easy and quick to learn.

6 Quick Steps 

01 Cast on your thread

03 Turn your lucet clockwise

04 Repeat 02 and 03 many times 

05 Make final stitch on right prong

06 Cut your thread and secure

02 Lift lower thread over right prong

Cast on your thread

Make a figure of 8 around the prongs: behind the right, over the left and over the right prong again.

Lift lower thread over right prong

On the right prong, lift lower strand to pass it behind the prong, over the loose strand.

Turn your lucet clockwise

Turn the lucet clockwise, always from right to left, to create a knot. 

Repeat 2 and 3

Repeat step two and three, as many times you need.

Make final stitch on right prong

05

Move the left ring over the right prong, work as a normal stitch: you have a single loop.

Cut your thread and secure

06

Cut your thread, pass it inside the loop and pull to secure.
