The lucet is a hand tool for making cords or braids for many uses. It's said to come from the Middle Ages. The basic technique is easy and quick to learn.
01 Cast on your thread
03 Turn your lucet clockwise
04 Repeat 02 and 03 many times
05 Make final stitch on right prong
06 Cut your thread and secure
02 Lift lower thread over right prong
01
Make a figure of 8 around the prongs: behind the right, over the left and over the right prong again.
02
On the right prong, lift lower strand to pass it behind the prong, over the loose strand.
03
Turn the lucet clockwise, always from right to left, to create a knot.
04
Repeat step two and three, as many times you need.
05
Move the left ring over the right prong, work as a normal stitch: you have a single loop.
06
Cut your thread, pass it inside the loop and pull to secure.
